| Infractions FAQ |
| Any decent community needs to have a system in place to deal with unruly members. Without such a system a community can quickly go downhill. Here at Empyron we have a simple system which we hope will be effective.
If you make a thread/post (or comment on the gallery or profile visitor messages) that doesn't follow the rules (read above), then a staff member will issue an infraction. The infraction levels are as follows:
|
| Clans |
Here at Empyron, we like the thought of people working together to achieve something. Which is why this design community has an emphasis on collaboration.
We also like the idea of clans. Clans are groups of people who share a common interest/goal. You could start a roleplaying clan, a design clan, even a gaming clan.
However there is a set criteria to be able to start/join a clan, so if you read this then you'll be all clued up and can sigh in relief that you know a little more.

| The Battle Arena FAQ |
| What is the Battle Arena? The Battle Arena (or BA) is a place to submit written works of fiction for the purpose of role playing. These usually consist of:
What are the rules of the BA? The general rules of Empyron also apply in this section of the forum. However due to the nature of the BA, there is one other specific addition we must ask you to adhere to:
What is Godmodding? Godmodding is the term used to describe when people take control of other RPer's characters and their actions, continuously refusing to take damage, or have too powerful a character. In a battle between Character 1 and Character 2 E.g. controlling other characters Character1 begins with a standard opening; describes location, their actions and leaves an open ending for anyone to reply to. Character2 replies by introducing themselves into the scenery, and acts fast by throwing the first attack. However Character2 decides their attack hits and causes (serious) damage before winding up their post with another attack. Character1 has no choice but to accept the damage done to them by Character 2 and must continue with their defence of the next attack. Or the failure of that defence due to the damage inflicted from the previous attack. Character1 then makes an attempt at a counter. E.g. continuously refusing to take damage - Character1 and Character 2 continue their battle. Character2 responds to Character1's counter attack, mentioning something about the setting that caused them to trip and therefore the counter was able to catch them as they stumbled to the ground. Character2 then mentions that their blunder leaves their defence open more as they regain balance and launch another attack at Character1. Character1 likes scoring their first hit on Character2 and decides that because they've already taken a bit of damage that they'll escape the next volley of attacks sent at them, and take advantage of their opponent's lack of balance by aiming at their legs with their weapon – increasing the likelihood of Character2 being unable to avoid the follow-up of attacks for hopefully falling down. Character2 duly falls to the ground, however because their main ability is kick-boxing they are able to repel most of Character1's attacks; although taking some injury. In a desperate attempt to regain some ground, Character2 then creates some momentum in a break-dance-like manoeuvre to repel more of the attacks, hopefully unbalance their assailant, and attain a standing position. Character1 decides that none of Character2's counters work, neither do they have the effect of knocking them back so Character2 can gain ground. Instead Character1 continues their chain of attacks. E.g. too powerful a character - the underlined sections are the undesirable elements. Mostly these can be fixed simply by rewording. Name: Character1 Age: Undefinable – appears about 27 Race: Fallen Angel Appearance: Long white hair kept in a pony tail. Has white skin and generally wears black leather clothing. Holes are made to allow for the stumps of his stripped wings. Weapon: a poisoned Naginata – causes blind and poison status effects once it has entered the blood stream; poison causes death after 3 rounds. Magic: Fire – small fireball, medium fireball, big fireball, inescapable fire wall Lighting – random lightning strikes, sheet lightning, target-lock lightning blast Eg. Satisfactory version - having an explanation of some things that might sound over-zealous often defuses the problem. Holes are made to allow for the stumps of his stripped wings. Weapon: a poisoned Naginata – could cause blind or poison status effects. Lighting – random lightning strikes, sheet lightning, lightning blast - undirectable stream of lightning lasting 30seconds, may cause small discharges off the main bolt. What is an ABB? An Active Battler's Bio, otherwise known as an ABB, is the character sheet you create to give specific details of the avatar you will be RPing as in miscellaneous battles. This character sheet is designed for your opponent's reference, as well as your own. You can have more than one character, and usually the more detailed the better, as it outlines your character's strengths and weaknesses, and a well set out ABB allows other RPer's to get a better grasp on the kind of person your character is. An ABB is usually used for single battles with other members, but can be transferred to other events in the BA with the necessary tweaks that the specific RP requires. E.g. If I wanted to use an ABB character who was from the medieval period to enter a Story RP that was set in the future, I would need to edit the character's history, and possibly appearance, to fit the story setup provided. Similarly if I were to join a themed tournament, say Kingdom Hearts for example, I would need to edit my ABB character to fit the requirements. Note: these changes need not be made in your ABB thread, but in the thread specified for characters, usually termed a "sign-up thread". Note: for general battles, the history of your character and the location do not need to be in synch. Historical accuracy is suspended if you so wish it to be. Your ABB simply needs to be put at the top of your post in your battle. If you, however, tend to use the same character in each battle, we would suggest you create an ABB thread in which to possibly expand on the character's details. If you do this simply refer your opponent to that thread in your first post. What is an appropriate post? The basic formula for an appropriate post is this:
You post can be written in any tense you feel most comfortable. Generally the most popular are present and past; particularly with the past tense there is often the ongoing action thrown in to the mix. How do I start a battle? To start a battle is like making a thread in any other part of the forum – click on the "New Thread". From here you will need to name your battle, and then, using the above formula if you wish, expand on what's there and who (if you have a preference) you would like to battle with* *If you do have a person in mind, make sure that you have previously checked with them to see if they don't mind/have the time. How do I create a Story RP/What do I need to start a Story RP? Story RPs generally require a little more planning and back story than your standard battle. You will need to devise a theme and the beginning of a story to attract a group of characters to in a sign-up thread. From here people who are interested (including yourself) will create and post their characters that they will play as throughout the story. Once you have waited as long as you feel necessary, or after you have obtained enough characters for you to be satisfied with, you will need to create an RP thread where you will act out the story. This thread is separate from the sign-up. What is a Tournament? A tournament is usually a mod-run group battle of several stages for some sort of prize and/or glory. They generally have a theme (e.g. Kingdom Hearts), around which competitors will create a character (or modify their ABB). As each stage is finished, the competitors' posts are assessed on a list of criteria necessary to what constitutes a good read, as well as a good battle, and one or more of the lowest scoring will be eliminated from that round. This continues until there is a winner. If you have any more questions unanswered by the FAQ, or are having troubles with anything listed here, do not hesitate to contact either Mei-Ling or AT who will be happy to help you. |
